The displacement of thousands of Cypriot families is not entertainment. Demand that Peloton remove the Halloween framing of its Varosha Ride.
Imagine being forced to flee your home, leaving behind the streets where you grew up, the neighborhood where you raised your children, and everything you knew. Now imagine, more than 50 years later, seeing those same streets featured as spooky Halloween entertainment.
For thousands of Greek Cypriots, this is not imaginary.
Peloton has featured a 15-minute virtual cycling ride through Varosha, Cyprus as part of its Halloween programming. But Varosha is not a haunted amusement park.
The abandoned homes, hotels, and streets were once filled with families, businesses, and everyday life before Turkey's illegal invasion. Their emptiness is the result of war, displacement, and more than five decades of unresolved injustice.
There is nothing entertaining about families being unable to return to their homes.
We call on Peloton to immediately remove the Varosha Ride from Halloween-themed programming. A community's suffering should never be presented as a seasonal attraction.
